This peer-reviewed encyclopaedia features the most important key terms in digital education. The aim is to reflect the breadth of digital education and to possess an understanding of the unique vocabulary used to this specific format of education. Each entry provides a very succinct characterization of the respective term, followed by a more expanded discussion (supported by scientific references). Topics include, among others, digital competency frameworks (e.g. TPACK or DigCompEdu), policy (e.g. the implementation of digital education in curricula), tools (H5P, web conference systems, etc.), evaluation (e.g. quality standards of digital teaching and learning settings, limits of digital education, etc.), formats (e.g. synchronous, hybrid learning, etc.), tools (e.g. web conference systems, H5P, automated assessment systems, etc.), approaches to the professional development of teachers, subject-specific aspects (such as inclusion, literacies, science education, social justice, etc.), and development in different institutions (K12 education, higher education, etc.).
